Salina Military Affairs Council
Salina has a close relationship with the military
units that are stationed here as well as those units training at the Great
Plains Joint Training Center (GPJTC). The creation of the
GPJTC has brought an increased presence of active duty military, National
Guard, and civilian crisis first responders to Salina for training
purposes. The Chamber of Commerce has organized the formation of a
Military Affairs Council in response to this growth.
Mission - Our mission is to Plan,
Coordinate and Execute programming and activities that will strengthen the
relationship between Salina and the military forces working and training
here. The goal is to bring out a heightened awareness of one
community's importance to the other's. Our commitment is to support
soldiers, airmen and their families during both deployment hardships and
homecoming joy. In so doing, we hope to show active, guard, reserve
and retired military that Salina is not just another duty station, but a
place to call home.
Regular Meetings - The
Council holds regular monthly lunch meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of each
month. The meeting is open to the public and our military friends at
the cost of your meal. Check the Schedule of Events
link for times, locations and speakers. Also, don't miss your
opportunity to engage with military members and their families during one
of our Appreciation Events.
RSVPs are due to Roger Sinclair
at least one week before each
scheduled event.
Commander's Club - The Commander's
Club is a paid membership organization. Funds raised will be
used to support special military and community Appreciation Events.
Supportive efforts of these activities require a strong membership base.
Though you don't have to be a member of the Commander's
Club to attend the Military Affairs Council meetings, it does have
great benefits. Follow the link above to find out more about
requirements and registration procedures.
