Salina Fieldhouse
![]() Salina, KS – This progressive community blends “big city” opportunities and “small city” feel to create a great place to live, work and especially play! Located in the center of the United States at the crossroads of Interstates 70 and 135, Salina is an ideal choice for sporting events!
Thanks to several community minded business leaders and city officials, Salina Kansas is placing a new downtown $9 million multi-use sports facility in the middle of it all. Scheduled to open in summer 2017, the Salina Fieldhouse is a 65,000 square foot multi-purpose facility designed specifically to handle youth and adult sporting events. The layout will feature 3 hardwood and 3 synthetic (6 total) basketball courts, which convert into 8 volleyball courts. This space can also transform into a 20,000 sq. ft. turf area for 1 regulation indoor soccer field or flag football. Drop down batting cages and pitching tunnels will also be featured. Basketball, volleyball, cheer, dance, kickball, wrestling, baseball, softball, dodgeball, and futsal are just a few of the many activities that the Salina Fieldhouse can accommodate. Chris Cotton, Salina Parks & Recreation Director says the Department is excited about the opportunities that will develop to host regional and national events, “This would not be possible without the private partners who raised in excess of $4,000,000 to contribute to the project, and the understanding of the City Commission that this was a project of significance for the future of our city. Without both of their commitments to the project and the revitalization that this could be one of the anchor tenants for the redevelopment of downtown Salina, it would not have been possible.” In addition the Salina Fieldhouse project has inspired the beginnings of the Salina Downtown Development Project, which will include a revitalization of a 28 block area. Plans for development include a high-end 120 room five-story hotel, a bowling alley and indoor fun center, car museum, major chain restaurant, and substantial changes to the streetscape on the primary main street, Santa Fe. The Salina Parks & Recreation, a City of Salina Department, will manage the Salina Fieldhouse facility. Visit Salina is working diligently with the Salina Parks & Recreation, to market the facility. “Our calendar is open, and there has never been a better time to reserve a date for an event at the Fieldhouse!” stated Tiffany Benien, Sports Manager for the Visit Salina. Once you visit, you’re going to want to return!” as. |
