The Salina Area Chamber of Commerce has made headlines yet again as the 58th Annual Mid America Farm Expo draws in thousands to Salina and into Tony's Pizza Event Center. Over the course of just a couple days, farmers, vendors and exhibitors, and other professionals in the agricultural industry gather in Salina for informative seminars, vendor presentations and products, networking, great food, and more! The Farm Expo was originally started by the Chamber of Commerce 58 years ago and had 44 exhibits on display. It was originally held at the Saline County Livestock and Expo Center, formerly called the Saline County Fairgrounds and it had only 44 exhibits; compare that to the over 250 exhibits we had this year, and you can see the growth! Of course, over the 58 years, while it has grown exponentially and will continue to do so, it will continue to bring in thousands of people, and even more in economic activity to Salina and Saline County.
This year, the Farm Expo showcased three days of speakers and their respective topics as listed below: Shannon Ferrell, Oklahoma State University Basics of Farm Transition Planning Mechanics of Building a Farm Legacy: Transactional Tools for Farm Transitions Micah Cameron-Harp & Brian Briggeman, Kansas State University The State of Carbon Credit Programs The U.S. Ag Economy: How Are We Looking? Don Close & Cody Barilla, Terrain Ag Grain & Livestock Market Outlook, sponsored by American Ag Credit For the full story and more information, see the Salina Post's article by clicking HERE!
